Photograph of the interior of Joseph Chapman's furniture store on Walnut Ave. between 7th and 8th St. in Des Moines, Iowa. The store was next door to Younkers. Photo taken c. 1902. Original photo on black cardboard mat and copy of photo, enlarged and printed on photo paper. Note from donor reads "This is a picture inside of my father's furniture store taken early 1900. It was next door to Younkers, between 7th and 8th Street on Walnut. That is my Dad in front with my cousin Dora Chapman, standing beside him." Joseph Chapman came to Des Moines in 1886, and eventually brought his father and six brothers and their families to Des Moines. |
